Fly season is about to get into full force, and with that comes the risk of problems in animals caused by stress - premature calving, mastitis, and more. Flying insects can transmit from one animal to another, in addition to mastitis pathogens, other viral diseases, such as Bluetongue disease. In addition, insects disrupt the comfort of animals and have a negative impact on their health and productivity.
The good news is that Crystalyx® Garlyx provides a natural way to protect cattle and sheep from flying and biting insects. The product has been specially developed to maintain animal productivity during the summer months by stimulating food intake and improving digestive processes.
"The natural, high-sulfur compounds in garlic act as a repellent against flies and other biting insects," said Dr. Ivan Milanov of HL-TopMix.
"The Crystalix® Garlyx lick buckets can be conveniently placed in the field throughout the grazing season."
Crystalix® Garlyx works to make animal skin less attractive to insect bites. In such cases, the animals are less likely to be disturbed and they eat calmly.
The natural garlic extract is taken in by the animals with every lick and after a few days the garlic starts to be released through the pores of the skin. This creates an invisible barrier around the animals against flies and other biting insects.
Dr. Ivan Milanov added:
"Garlyx also contains a full range of vitamins, minerals and trace elements to balance the deficiencies of a pasture grass diet. The high levels of zinc contained in the product also help to maintain the integrity and strength of the skin, which is an additional barrier against insect bites."
Usually the intake of Crystalix® Garlyx by young animals is 100g-150g per animal per day. Equivalent values for sheep are 30g-40g per head per day.
Crystalyx® Garlyx is available in 22.5 kg pails and 80 kg basins.
